Entry 4: Shogun

Hello, kind of late for this, but back during spring break, I watched the Hulu show Shogun with my family. The show is quite an amazing look into medieval Japan through a fictionalized version of the events leading into the Tokugawa period, focusing on a protestant English sailor who reaches Japan during the height of Portuguese Catholic trade dominance, and thus gets caught up in the political machinations of Lord Toranaga (the show's equivalent to Tokugawa) as he tries to ascend to the shogunate.

I found the show particularly fascinating as I am currently taking a course on Japanese history, so I noticed a lot of the events in the show and how they paralleled the real historical events leading up to the battle of Sekigahara. Overall, a very great show that gives a very authentic and engaging look into Japanese history and culture.
